J----- is a 29 year old multi-racial man who entered residential treatment due to heroin and alcohol addiction after many years of homelessness. His first use was at age 13, and came from a situation where he received no support in his youth; he trusted no one. J---- also had drug-related legal offenses.
After successfully receiving 76 days of treatment services J---- stated, "Holden House saved my life." He has been clean and sober for 14 months since leaving treatment; he is employed full-time as a trainer at a local fitness facility, is engaged to be married and has won the favor of the sobriety court judge and his probation agent. He attributes his sobriety and success to the treatment process, the support he received from the team and his own commitment to sobriety. "It was a team effort," he said, "I have my life back."
