J. entered residential treatment at age 29 due to heroin and alcohol addiction and many years of homelessness. He never had support growing up and trusted no one. His first use was at age 13, and he had a criminal record of drug-related offenses.
After successfully receiving treatment, J. said: "Holden House saved my life." He has been clean and sober for 14 months and is employed full-time as a trainer at a fitness facility. He is engaged to be married and has won the favor of the sobriety court judge and his probation agent. He attributes his sobriety and success to the treatment process, the support he received from the team and his own commitment to sobriety. "It was a team effort," he said. "I have my life back."
